Cleaning Ears |
|
You
can clean the ears easily by simply wiping them out with a piece of
cotton dipped in olive oil. Use a separate ball for each ear, so you
don't spread any potential infections between ears.
Never use a Q-tip
to clean the ear unless your vet has given you some instruction.
A cat’s eardrum is located straight into the ear and if this is
jabbed, you could burst the drum. If
your cat is scratching at it's ears or shaking it's head frequently this
could indicate and infection. Look for dark wax build up in the ear, if
the ear seems clean an infection is unlikely, and your cat probably just
has a build up of wax, try massaging behind the ears externally to
loosen any wax build up. If the cat continues to scratch consult a vet.
Since
most cats never need their ears cleaned where others seem to have a lot
of waxy buildup. There are products that are helpful in cleaning
build-up such as that. |
