Declawing |
|
Paws
come with Claws! Please
know that declawing is CRUEL,
they basically amputate to the first joint,
and it is the equivalent to removing the first knuckle of YOUR finger. .
How would you feel with the ends of your fingers cut off? There
is a risk of nicking a nerve during the declawing surgery as well as
infection after until the paws heal. There is also a personality
modification that occurs in many cases due to the loss of the cats
"protection". Cats that have the claws removed are far
more likely to bite for protection and will roll over and use the back
claws to dig into a perceived enemy, which can do far more damage than a
swat on the nose. If a
nerve is nicked, it is likely that the cat will experience the same
sensation and pain that humans experience when we "hit our funny
bone" and this will cause the cat to either avoid human contact or
respond to being touched by attacking the person who caused the pain.
It is much better to simply clip the claws regularly and that has
always worked for our cats. Scratching
is a natural instinct; they do this to remove the nail.
If they grow too long they curve under and grow into the pads of
their feet, much like and ingrown toe nail to us.
It's
not much of a hassle to clip the nails yourself, and it is the best
alternative. Hold your cat
gently in your lap (have someone help you hold your cat, if needed).
Massage the claw out of its sheath. Clip the tip off. DO NOT CUT
THE PINK PART YOU CAN SEE INSIDE. That is the quick and it will bleed
and hurt your cat extremely. Approximately every 2-3 weeks this should
be done. PLEASE
NOTE: If you have purchased
a kitten from us, you
have also signed a contract agreeing not to do so! |
